about
‘Escapism’ is about not feeling in control of your own life; of knowing who and where you want to be and yet it always seems just out of reach. This is encapsulated in the refrain, “Which incarnation of myself should I be listening to?” in which singer, Calum Duncan, sums up a sensation of being split into different versions of one’s personality that are constantly warring with each other. The song builds gradually, accruing textures and intricacies to create a tense momentum, before breaking into a climax that lands somewhere between Atoms For Peace and Burial.
